Namaste Emoji

Namaste Emoji is a design experiment that looks at how Indian culture shows up in digital conversations.
India communicates visually. Through gestures, objects, rituals, and everyday symbols. But when we move online, we rely on a global emoji system that barely reflects how we actually live and express ourselves. The result is a visual language that feels incomplete.
This project started with a simple question: why don’t our everyday Indian gestures and moments exist in the way we chat? Namaste Emoji translates familiar Indian symbols into a clear, usable emoji system. Each icon is designed to feel instantly recognisable, rooted in daily life, and easy to use in real conversations. The focus is not nostalgia or decoration, but functionality, emotion, and cultural accuracy.

Seen through a design lens, the project treats emojis as a visual language system, not just icons. It explores how culture, clarity, and identity can coexist within small digital forms.
