About the Project
The Jakarta Futures Forum 2025, organised by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), marked 70 years since the Bandung Conference and brought together voices from India and Indonesia to explore cooperation, leadership, and cultural continuity across the Indo-Pacific.
We worked with team Purple Blue House, Delhi, to build the visual identity of the Jakarta Futures Forum 2025, organised by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
The visual direction draws from Aksara Bali, the Balinese script, whose lineage can be traced to the ancient Pallava script of India, one of the key influences on writing systems across Southeast Asia.
Rather than treating this connection as a historical reference, we used the distinctive curves and rhythm of Aksara Bali as the foundation for a contemporary graphic language. The forms became a visual expression of shared ancestry, connection, and continuity, creating a bridge between India and Indonesia while reflecting the forum’s larger conversation around cultural dialogue and the future of the Indo-Pacific.
